Rattleback

Place the transparent “stone” on a table and spin it clockwise. After a few turns, the gem will stop while you are making a magical gesture and will start to spin in a opposite direction.

If it is spun counterclockwise, the stone does not stop… or does it? On a second try, the stone will stop its rotation when spun counterclockwise! It will spin in a clockwise direction indeed!

We manufacture two stones that look identical but work different. One of the stones stops after a short while when spun in clockwise direction and will start to rotate counterclockwise (Rattleback 1) . The other one will stop when spun counterclockwise after some turns and will start to rotate in clockwise direction (Rattleback 2).

By means of these small asymmetrical form moulds, different curious physical phenomenon’s and tricks can be demonstrated!

Due to the nice transparent red color the Rattlebacks are ideal to be combined with the clever trick and gimmick Rocco’s D’Lite! By use of Rocco’s D’Lite you can make the stones light up and “glow” in a bright red.
